It rained. We got wet. There were potholes 🤔
#Extended Version# - Russell
Warren Clements is a quick learner and, as a comparatively novice Leopard route planner, has certainly come of age. He now has reached legend status with this week’s route - narrow muddy lanes, gravel a plenty, potholes galore, and the obligatory flood or two. He made his tutor, Russell, very proud.
Three Leopard groups. The Fast which got caught by the Medio and then the Slows who were caught by no one and caught no one. The Medio even managed to eject their ride leader, Chris Benyon, who was swept up by the Slows.
But what fun we had :-). Steady rain, mild wind but, in the Slows at least, good chat - Battle of Britain, training techniques (yes even we train), how to shorten the route, our favourite potholes/floods/route planners ……
The Slows welcomed new boy Clive Matthew who is making his way up through the groups and showed great climbing prowess.
Miraculously, the Slows had zero punctures and only one from the others but passed many Marlow Riders who weren’t so lucky. The obligatory call to check all is OK and hoping that the recipient doesn’t shout “ No”!
Former Captain Ken assured us that Frieth Road was open - well it was kind of if one did a detour via the cabins on Finnamore Wood where the Slows saw Russell disappear into a huge water filled pothole and, even more surprisingly, emerge unscathed.
A great day out and none the worse for the weather, or the route. Great company as always.
