A beautiful day brought out sufficient Jags to form two groups. Andi led one group, whilst James B and myself led a second group of 7 comprising Joe D, Rory E, Mark G, Richard L and Jerry T. At least that’s how we started. Rory’s dodgy TPU valve resulted in a brief stop on the Bower’s Lane climb to Stokenchurch but nothing serious enough to impact the magnificent seven’s onward journey.
Mark, on the other hand, had a flat at the top of the Balham’s Lane decent whilst bringing up the rear - so no one noticed until we were at the bottom 🙄. Following lengthy discussions regarding the state of British roads vs those found in France, Portugal, Spain etc., etc.😡, Richard and Joe volunteered to climb back up coll-de-Balham’s to check on Mark. Richard called to suggest the rest of us should press on to the airfield – and so now we were down to 4.
James was next to disappear with urgent lube requirements 😳 – so he dropped out at Henley to do some shopping, bringing our number down to 3.
Finally, the pre-planned departure of Rory at Wargrave left just the 2 of us.
No matter - Jerry and I jumped on the back of a group of passing Leopards for a welcomed tow into White Waltham Airfield. Jane E wanted to know what on earth we had done with the rest of our group – but this was shortly answered by the delayed arrival of Mark, Joe, Richard and James. The band were together again and coffee, cake and airplanes were enjoyed by all ( apart from Rory). Thanks to Andi for planning an awesome route!!!
Not a picture of the above mentioned Jags (that picture had a thumb over it!) - but a group of happy VETs I was talking to instead.
