17 Jags had signed up, but with a few dropouts, mainly due to injury, 3 groups eventually assembled. Fast Jags led by Geoff (no pressure!) comprised Michael, Richards L & H, and Rory, picking up Patrick at the top of the hill.
The rest split into two groups, one led by Jay, including Paul/Hammy (in top to match the bluebells - good to see this level of attention to detail!), Patrice, Amardeep, picking up Danuta at the top - bit of a theme here! Andi’s famous four included newbie Aidan, Sean and Captain Chaos himself Simon Rat (on best behaviour for the day - mostly!). Having ticked off the first hill, the groups enjoyed a nice spin though White Waltham, Twyford and over the bridge at Sonning. Having just missed the lights, there was time for a quick bite before crossing the river.
In a break from tradition, not going through Playhatch, much to the consternation of some in Andi’s group, but through Cav Park Village, and on up the long drag to Stoke Row. The bluebells en route were glorious. Past Stoke Row Stores, blinkers on so as not to be tempted in for bacon rolls, and on up to Nuffield and the Maker Space.
Keen Leopards (AKA Fast Leopards), Warren and Will and their gang were already tucking in, but fortunately all the Jags arrived for JPS’s mob. Despite 30 odd cyclists descending on them at once, the service at MS ran like clockwork with everyone’s order arriving at the table. No fuss, just excellent coffee and cakes.
Poor Patrice was suffering, possibly a virus due to a virus, and Jay’s group did a great job escorting him back. Meanwhile, Captain Chaos and newbie Aidan raced back with Andi not really quite hanging on. More bluebells to admire. Sean turned for home @ Hambleden.
Thanks everyone for a great ride.
